Ruby for Netbeans? Wha Happened?!

Tor Norbye is about the last person I’d guess would be pushing the state of Ruby IDE’s. But he is. If you ever listen to the Java Posse, he doesn’t even seem to like dynamic languages. Or maybe its just that he seems to really like statically typed languages. Maybe they gave the Ruby work to him as punishment. * Go Tor! (via Hedius)

Hi Rob,
I guess I’ve been pretty tough on JavaScript in the podcast, but I have no issue with dynamic languages in general. And Ruby in particular is really nice. Of course, I’m a big fan of static typing, but I’m a bigger fan of using the right tool/language for the right job - on size does not fit all!

Tor: Agree 100% on the right tool for the job, of course. I think you guys are too dismissive of javascript and dynamic languages in general especially for large projects, but I’m still a fan of the show. Looking forward to seeing ruby refactoring in netbeans, or RDT, whoever gets there first.
